I
became interested in radio in high school Listening to Cleveland
Indian Baseball. I loved the sport and wanted to become a Sportscaster.
During my senior year at Brookfield High School I became the local
High School Reporter for WHOT. After graduation, I |
 |
attended and completed Radio and Television training at Career Academy
In Columbus, Ohio. My first job was as a newsman At WGRP in Greenville,
Pa. Then moving on to A Part Time Disc Jockey role at WFAR in Farrell,
Pa. Preparing to start college at Youngstown State University.
However, my life was interrupted
by a letterproclaiming
"Greetings" from Uncle Sam. It turned out to be one of the best
breaks of my Life as I was placed in radio the American Forces Radio
and Television Network. Having the opportunity to work with Fellow
Broadcasters who worked in the "Larger" Radio Markets, I was able
to learn and progress in my Career.
Returning home and then moving to the South for 7 years, I worked
in News, Country, Oldies And Top 40 radio, sales and Television
Production. I have been blessed with a 30 Plus Year Career locally,
Working at WNIO, WHOT, HOT 101, WBBG and am currently the Co-Host
of the Morning Show on Newstalk 790 WPIC and handling the Programming
And Operations of WPIC and The New 96.7 The River. |

I
joined WPIC in the early 1980's. Aside from a brief stint at WKBN
Radio & TV in Youngstown, Ohio where I honed my news gathering and
writing skills, I've pretty much called "the grand old studios"
home.
I love my job, hustling for stories about our little world. After
twenty years in this business you'd think I've seen it all. Well,
yeah I have. Still, there's always a new twist to an old tale that
sparks my curiosity and encourages me to put |
my best foot forward and go out on the hunt and bag the story.
This year I took on a new assignment at WPIC - producer and host
of a half hour public affairs show "Issues
Magazine" (Tue 9:30AM). "Issues" let's me tackle subjects that
deserve more than the standard 30-60 second news coverage.
I have two children, Aaron (15) & Rachel (10) , my two finest productions.
In my off-time, I enjoy spending time with my kids. On my free nights,
I love music. On any given Monday, while others are watching football,
you'll find me at Tully's in Downtown Sharon bellying up to the
bar for my blues and acoustics fix. |

I
began in radio purely by accident. In the mid 80's the community
action agency operated a consumer protection program. WPIC agreed
to sponsor 60 second public service announcements if I would write
them and record them. So I began going into WPIC once a week to
record the five spots for the coming week. At that time WPIC went
off the air at sundown. In 1988 WPIC was granted approval to be
on the air all
day
and the search was on for evening |
 |
programming. In May of 1988 Pat Mulrooney and I went on the air
with the co-hosted Community Focus show and a local evening talk
show has been in that time slot ever since.
As for my background I was born in Chicago and raised in Uniontown,
PA. I am graduate of Penn State and bleed blue and white to this
day. I began in Community Action in Altoona in 1972 and have been
in Mercer County since 1984. As most of the audience knows I am
married and have six children.
The fun of the talk show is the audience; without their participation
there is no show. Although I have interviewed most of our local
politicians and a few national celebrities, my favorite shows are
still the open forums and a few good hot topics. It really is the
modern day equivalent of the town hall meeting. |
